Jefferson K. Streepey
Areas of Practice
Jeff has a predominantly transactional practice emphasizing corporate, business and regulatory law, probate, trusts and estate planning, with particular emphasis on the needs of small to medium-size companies and their owners, and the state and local needs of larger business and financial institutions. He engages daily in the preparation and review of leases, contract documents, corporate organizational and other papers, wills, and trusts. He also serves as general counsel for a number of companies, ranging from public transportation to the equine business.
Jeff received his BA degree with honors in history from DePauw University in 1966. He received his JD degree from Duke University in 1969.
Jeff joined Boehl Stopher & Graves, LLP immediately upon receipt of his law degree in 1969 and has remained with the firm since that time. He has been a partner since 1975.
Jeff was heavily involved in the combination of two Louisville, Kentucky banks in one of the early bank merger transactions. He has represented several soft drink bottlers in acquisition transactions. He has had dozens of cases before local tax boards and the Kentucky Board of Tax Appeals in matters including the application of sales tax to auction sales, application of sales tax to reusable containers and a novel issue related to the Kentucky healthcare providers tax. He has also represented horse breeders with respect to Kentucky sales and use tax matters.

Jeff is currently a member of the Louisville Bar Association, the Kentucky Bar Association, the Indiana Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in Kentucky and Indiana, and federal courts in the Eastern District of Kentucky, Western District of Kentucky, Southern District of Indiana, and the U.S. Tax Court. He is a member of the American Bar Association’s sections of taxation, business law, real property, probate, and trust law.
He is currently President of the Louisville Bar Foundation and a director of the Louisville Bar Association. He is a member and past director of the Louisville Estate Planning Council and past president of the Louisville Estate Planning Forum. He is a past director of Kentucky Industries for the Blind. Jeff was recognized with an MS Community Leadership Award in 1996. He is listed in Kentucky Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America and in the December 2008 issue of Worth Magazine as one of the nation’s top 100 wealth planning attorneys.
He has been a speaker to the American College of Life Underwriters in Louisville, Kentucky on estate planning matters, the American Red Cross, Louisville, Kentucky on inheritance tax matters, and a panelist in a number of seminars on estate and retirement planning.
